๐Ÿ† Gamification console

Decide what earns points, design achievements and trivia, and print scavenger hunt QR codes.

๐Ÿ† Switching it on

๐Ÿ† Gamification starts as a single button: ๐Ÿ† Enable gamification (Whova-style defaults). Press it and a full set of point rules and achievements is created โ€” a sensible configuration out of the box rather than a blank slate. The rest of the console appears once it's on.

โ„น๏ธ Note
Leave it off and the event simply has no points, no leaderboard entries, no passport and no prize wheel. That's a legitimate choice for a small or serious event โ€” the attendee pages handle its absence quietly.

โญ Point rules

Each rule pairs an action with a point value, an on/off tick, and (where it has one) a daily cap shown as cap 10/day. Change the number, leave the tick as you want it, and press save โ€” one row at a time.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip
Points are a nudge, so weight them toward the behavior you actually want. Want the exhibit hall busy? Raise booth_visit. Want session ratings so you have data for next year? Raise session_feedback. Turning a rule off is also a real option โ€” agenda_add at 2 points a session is mostly noise at a large event.

Awards are idempotent per action and reference, so nobody scores twice for the same session rating or the same hunt code, and the caps stop anyone farming a single action all day.

โ„น๏ธ Note
If point rules were added to the platform after you switched gamification on, the console offers a ๏ผ‹ Add N new point rules button naming them. Existing rules and already-earned points are untouched.

๐Ÿ’Ž Paying sponsors more points

A sponsor tier can carry bonus points โ€” set it on the tier in ๐Ÿข Exhibitors, and every visit to a booth on that tier scores the normal booth_visit value plus the bonus.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip
This is the most effective exhibitor upsell the platform has, and it's what the previous VFairs setup leaned on hardest: headline sponsors scored 25 a visit against 15 for everyone else, so attendees hunting points went to them first. Name it in your prospectus โ€” a tier that quietly includes it is money left on the table.

๐ŸŽ–๏ธ Achievements & the AI Challenge Designer

Achievements are listed as ๐Ÿ… Name โ€” 250 pts: a badge earned at a point threshold, shown on the attendee's leaderboard panel. The defaults arrive with gamification.

โœจ Challenge Designer drafts a bespoke set for your event โ€” generate, review, then apply or discard. Worth running once your agenda exists, since a designed set that references your actual programme reads far better than generic milestones.

๐Ÿง  Trivia

๐Ÿง  Add a trivia question takes a question, the answers one per line, and Correct answer is line # โ€” a number, so count carefully. Press Add question and it appears at /{event}/trivia for attendees.

Attendees get one shot per question, locked once answered, with the correct answer revealed immediately. Correct answers score trivia_correct with no cap.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip
Add questions during the event rather than all up front โ€” questions drawn from that morning's keynote get far more play than a quiz written in advance, and it gives people a reason to keep coming back to the page.

๐Ÿ”Ž The scavenger hunt

Printable QR codes to hide around the venue. The gamification page offers two sheets: 10 codes or 25 codes โ€” each opens a printable sheet. Each scan scores once per attendee.

  1. Open the 10- or 25-code sheet and print it.
  2. Cut them up and hide them โ€” on booths, by the coffee, in the programme, by the lifts, in the quiet room. Sponsor booths are a good home for a few: it drives traffic and gives you something to offer a sponsor.
  3. Tell attendees the hunt exists and roughly how many codes there are. Nobody hunts for something they don't know about โ€” announce it in the opening session and in a drip email.
  4. Codes require sign-in to score, so scanning bounces a signed-out attendee through the sign-in page first. Mention that.
โš ๏ธ Heads up
Print the sheets you intend to use and no more. Every code on a printed sheet is live, so a spare sheet left on the registration desk is a pile of free points.

๐Ÿ›‚ The booth passport

โ„น๏ธ Note
For in-person attendees, print the booth QR codes from ๐Ÿข Exhibitors and give each exhibitor theirs. Scanning one opens that booth's page and stamps the passport, so someone walking the hall collects stamps without ever opening the virtual exhibit hall.

The passport needs no configuration: visiting a published booth's page stamps it automatically, and attendees see ๐Ÿ›‚ Passport: 7/12 booths visited in the exhibit hall. Completing the set awards the passport_complete bonus and tells them they're "in the prize draw".

โ„น๏ธ Note
The platform promises attendees a prize draw when they complete the passport โ€” so run one. It also means the denominator is your published booth count: publishing a booth late moves the goalposts for everyone who already finished. Try to have the hall settled before you promote the passport.

๐ŸŽก The daily prize wheel

Attendees who are on the board get a ๐ŸŽก Spin the daily wheel button on the leaderboard page โ€” one spin per day, with the outcome decided server-side. It needs no setup; it's a reason to open the leaderboard each morning of a multi-day event.

โš–๏ธ Keeping it fair

  • Announce the rules. The platform deliberately doesn't state what the prizes are โ€” that's yours to publish. Say what wins, how, and when it's judged.
  • Watch the ledger. ๐Ÿ“Š Reports shows total points awarded, and the points ledger is one of the custom CSV datasets. Export it before awarding anything expensive and look for a score that doesn't match a plausible day.
  • Adjust mid-event if you must. Rules are editable at any time โ€” if one action turns out to be an exploit, drop its value or switch it off. Earned points stay earned.
  • Blocking works here too. A blocked participant is removed from the directory and the community, which is the lever for genuine abuse โ€” ๐Ÿ’ฌ Surveys, chat rooms & moderation.
