๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Buying tickets

Pick a ticket type, answer the registration questions, pay, and find your receipt afterwards.

Tickets are bought from the Tickets section of the event's landing page โ€” the ๐ŸŽŸ Get tickets button at the top jumps you there. Each ticket type is its own card with its own little form, so you buy directly from the card you want.

๐Ÿ›’ Buying, step by step

  1. Pick your ticket type. Each card shows the name, description and current price (or Free). Cards may also carry a warning like Only 7 left.
  2. Enter your email and quantity. Email is where the tickets and receipt go, so get it right. Quantity goes up to 20 โ€” see ๐Ÿ‘ฅ Group tickets if you're buying for other people.
  3. Add a promo code in the Promo code box if you have one. It applies when you submit; an invalid or expired code comes back as an error rather than silently doing nothing.
  4. Tick any add-ons. Optional extras the organizers offer โ€” a workshop, a dinner, a t-shirt โ€” each with its own price, listed under Add-ons.
  5. Answer the registration questions. Organizers can add their own fields (text boxes, dropdowns, checkboxes). Ones marked * are required. Some questions only appear for certain ticket types.
  6. Choose how to pay, if the event offers a choice, then press Get tickets.

๐Ÿ’ณ Paying

Pressing Get tickets hands you over to the payment provider's own secure checkout page, then brings you back. Card payments run through Stripe. If the organizers have PayPal switched on as well, you'll see a Pay with choice of ๐Ÿ’ณ Card or ๐Ÿ…ฟ๏ธ PayPal before the button.

When it works you land on a ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ You're in! page with links to the agenda and your receipt, and the ticket email โ€” QR code included โ€” is on its way.

โ„น๏ธ Note
Free tickets skip the payment step entirely; the ticket email goes out immediately.

โœ‹ Tickets that need approval

Organizers can mark a ticket type as approval-required โ€” common for member rates, student rates and press passes. Instead of paying straight away you get ๐Ÿ“จ Request received!, and the flow becomes request-first:

  1. You submit the form. Nothing is charged, and no ticket is issued yet.
  2. An organizer reviews the request โ€” usually within a day.
  3. If approved, you get an email titled "You're approved โ€” complete your registration" with a payment link. That link expires in 24 hours, so don't sit on it. Free-once-approved registrations skip payment and the ticket just arrives.
  4. If it isn't approved, you get an email saying so. Nothing was charged.

๐ŸŽ Invite-only and comp tickets

Some ticket types are hidden from the public list and only appear if you arrive through the organizers' invite link โ€” the card is outlined in the event's color and labelled ยท invite. The invitation is carried in the link itself, so use the link the organizers emailed you rather than navigating there yourself.

Organizers can also issue a comp ticket outright. Those need no purchase at all โ€” the ticket email simply arrives.

๐Ÿช‘ Sold out and the waitlist

When a ticket type hits its cap the card shows Sold out and the buy form is replaced by a short Join waitlist form (your name and email). You get โœ“ You're on the waitlist to confirm.

โš ๏ธ Heads up
A waitlist place is not a ticket. If a spot opens up โ€” usually a refund โ€” the organizers release seats and you get an email. It's first come, first served from there, so watch your inbox.

You may also see Sales closed instead. That means the ticket type's sales window has ended (or hasn't started), regardless of how many are left.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Prices that change

Organizers can schedule pricing, so the price you see is the price active right now. Early-bird rates roll over to standard rates automatically at the time the organizers set โ€” there's no code to enter and no countdown to watch.

๐Ÿงพ Your tickets and receipts

Your tickets/{event}/tickets, or the My tickets link in the event footer. Each ticket shows a big QR code to present at check-in. Once you've been scanned, the caption changes from Show this at check-in to โœ“ Checked in.
Your receipt/orders/{order-id}/receipt โ€” also linked from the confirmation page. This is the itemised record for expense claims.
The ticket emailSent on purchase, with the QR code attached. Keep it โ€” it works offline.
๐Ÿ’ก Tip
Add the site to your home screen before you travel (see ๐Ÿ”‘ Accounts). A previously-loaded ticket page keeps working when the venue wifi doesn't.

โ†ฉ๏ธ Refunds

Refunds are issued by the organizers, not from your own account โ€” contact them directly. When one goes through, the money returns via the original payment method and the ticket is revoked, so it disappears from your tickets page and its QR code stops scanning at the door. Comp tickets have nothing to refund; organizers revoke those instead.
