๐Ÿ‘ฅ Group tickets & claiming a seat

Buy several seats at once, share claim links with your group, and attach a seat to your own account.

Buying for a team, a family or a research group works the same as buying for yourself โ€” set the quantity higher. One order, one payment, one receipt, several seats. What comes next is handing those seats out.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Buying several seats

On the ticket card, put the number of seats in the quantity box (up to 20) and buy as normal. Add-ons and registration answers apply to the order as a whole, and the receipt at /orders/{order-id}/receipt covers every seat โ€” that's the document to submit for reimbursement.

You now hold, say, five tickets. One of them is yours; the other four are unassigned seats waiting for a person.

๐Ÿ”— Sharing claim links

Open My tickets (/{event}/tickets, also in the event footer). Each seat gets its own card. Unassigned ones are highlighted with an Unassigned seat box containing a long link starting /claim/โ€ฆ โ€” that's the claim link for that specific seat.

  1. Open My tickets for the event.
  2. Find a card marked Unassigned seat and copy the link out of the box.
  3. Send it to one person โ€” email, text, whatever. Each link is for one seat.
  4. Repeat with a different card for each remaining person. Don't reuse a link: the first person to open it takes that seat.
โš ๏ธ Heads up
Claim links are signed and unguessable, but anyone holding one can take the seat. Send them directly to the person attending โ€” not to a group chat, a public channel or a shared spreadsheet.

โœ‹ Claiming a seat you were sent

If someone sends you a claim link, opening it is the whole process. You'll be asked to sign in first if you aren't already (magic link โ€” see ๐Ÿ”‘ Accounts), and then the seat attaches to your account and you land on your own tickets page with the ticket showing.

Occasionally you'll hit a message instead:

  • Already claimed โ€” someone else got there first. Ask the purchaser for a different seat's link.
  • Ticket unavailable โ€” the ticket was refunded or revoked.
  • Invalid link โ€” the link is damaged, usually from being cut in half by an email client. Ask for it again.

๐Ÿ‘€ Keeping track as the buyer

Your tickets page is the running tally. A card showing a QR code and Show this at check-in has been claimed and belongs to somebody; a card still showing the Unassigned seat box hasn't. Reload it after sending the links out and chase whoever's left.

โ„น๏ธ Note
Everyone in the group needs to claim their own seat. Until they do, the seat has no person attached โ€” which means no My Schedule, no messages, no points, and no access to ticket-gated video for them. Claiming is what turns a paid seat into a person's access. Don't leave it until the morning of the event.

A seat you keep for yourself is claimed automatically โ€” it's already on your account, no link needed.
