π¬ Community board & surveys
Post topics, organize meetups, share photos and answer the organizers' surveys.
π The community board
π Community in the event nav is the event's message board β a flat list of threads rather than a firehose. It's where the "anyone else arriving Thursday night?" and "has anybody solved this before?" conversations happen.
Meet-ups are pinned to the top of the list, followed by discussion topics. Each thread shows the poster, the body, and its replies underneath.
βοΈ Posting a topic
- Click + New topic or meet-up to open the form.
- Leave the dropdown on Discussion topic.
- Give it a Title β required, and it's what people see in the list, so make it say something.
- Add the Details⦠if the title doesn't cover it.
- Press Post. It appears immediately.
π€ Organizing a meet-up
Same form, but switch the dropdown to Meet-up, and the two extra fields start mattering: the date-and-time picker and Location (for meet-ups). Fill those in and your post is pinned above the discussion topics with a π€ marker and the time and place shown.
This is attendee-run, not organizer-run β dinner bookings, an early-morning walk, a post-keynote debrief in the hotel bar. Put something concrete in the location field ("lobby bar, 7pm") and let people reply to say they're in.
π· The photo wall
At the top of the board is π· Share a photo. Pick a shot β from your camera or your camera roll β add a caption if you like, and press π· Share photo. It appears in the grid for everyone at the event, and you can β€οΈ each other's.
- Photos are visible to attendees of this event only, not the public web.
- There's a 12MB limit per photo, which is generous for anything a phone takes.
- You can remove your own photo any time with the β on it. Organizers can remove any photo.
π¬ Replying
Every thread has a Replyβ¦ box at the bottom. Replies nest under their thread and show who wrote them. Posting on the board earns points at events running the games β though there's a daily cap, so padding the board doesn't pay.
π Surveys
π Surveys is where the organizers ask you things β what you want more of, how the venue is working, whether the catering was any good. The header keeps score: "Help shape the event β 2/5 answered".
Each survey is a single question with a handful of options, presented as buttons. Click one and that's your answer. The moment you answer, the buttons become result bars with percentages and a β next to your choice β so you see where the room stands.
- One answer per survey, and it can't be changed. Read the options before clicking.
- Surveys marked (closed) no longer accept answers, but still show the results.
- Nothing there yet? "No surveys right now β check back later." Organizers typically run one before the event and one after.
